  • I appreciate Patricia's pointing out that excitement is a big part of presidential politics. My first campaign was for Eugene McCarthy during the bloody 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago. I was very fired up then about the injustice of the Vietnam War. Now, my 18 and 14 year daughters are very fired up about the Obama campaign. It's good to see young people getting enthusiastic about the future. I agree with Patricia: you have to have a sense of optimism about the future to get into the "politics game." Thanks.

  • My first memory is protesting a train that came through Shoshone - I think it was carrying nuclear waste or nuclear supplies. After that, it was celebrating Clinton's win at a party downtown in 1992. 10th grade.
